KPIs Identification for Performance Evaluation: A Case Study of Academic Staff in Engineering and Technology Universities in Hanoi

Key performance indicators (KPIs) are common used in measuring the staff performance in many higher education institutions. For engineering and technology universities in Vietnam, in the transformation process to be self-finance universities, KPIs play a significant role in developing strategic plans, monitoring and evaluating and adjusting educational quality accreditation. This research develops 16 operational indicators in 5 KPI aspects: teaching and supervisor, research and innovation, writing and publication, consultancy and services to evaluate the academic staff performance in engineering and technology universities in Hanoi, Vietnam. Some solutions to help these universities to implement successfully appraisal of academic staff by using KPIs in Vietnamese engineering and technology universities are also recommended.
